Some totes haul groceries. This one surfs.
That’s Kani da Moa on the front — the free-range rooster who runs the North Shore of Oʻahu. Kani means to crow. It’s the only word he knows, and he uses it early. Turn the bag around and he’s still with you: the Da Moa badge, stamped North Shore • Hawaiʻi, with a line under it that isn’t really a slogan. First one in the lineup.
The bag under the bird is honest. Eight ounces of organic cotton twill, stiff enough to stand up on its own and rated to thirty pounds — which is more than you’ll ever put in it, though you’ll try. Long handles that clear a shoulder. One open compartment: no zips, no pockets, no rules about what goes in it. Wet towels, a week of groceries, three library books, one slipper you thought you lost.
Take it to the farmers market. Take it to Laniakea and let it get sandy. Take it on the long drive home full of stuff you didn’t plan on buying. It comes in Oyster or Black, and both look better after a year of use than they did the day they turned up.
Dawn Patrol Since Forever.

Empty it out first. Pretreat any visible stains, then mix warm water with laundry detergent and work it over with a terry washcloth or a soft-bristle brush. Let it air dry.
