What to Expect from the Hawaii Surf Launch
Aloha, surf ohana! The wait is almost over— The Hawaii surf launch is coming on April 20, 2025, and we’re stoked to share this ride with you. This isn’t just a website; it’s a passion project born from the waves, built by surfers who live and breathe the history of this incredible sport. Grab your board (or just your curiosity), and let’s paddle into what we’re all about.
Who We Are
We’re a crew of surfers—some of us born in Hawaii, others drawn here by the call of the ocean. What unites us? A deep love for surfing and its roots, especially the rich legacy of heʻe nalu that started right here on these islands. From ancient Polynesian wave-riders to the modern shredders we admire today, we’re obsessed with the stories, the culture, and the spirit of the surf. We’re not historians in stuffy offices—we’re out in the lineup, chasing swells and swapping tales about Duke Kahanamoku, Eddie Aikau, and the old koa boards that started it all.
Why Hawaii.Surf?
This site is our way of giving back to the sport and the place that shaped it. At hawaii.surf, you’ll find a growing collection of stories—like how surfing began with those first Polynesian settlers over a thousand years ago (check out our post on “The Dawn of Surfing” for that one!). We’re digging into the past to celebrate the legends, the boards, and the waves that made Hawaii the heart of surfing.
But it’s not just about history. We’re here to build a community—both on the islands and beyond. As we grow, we’ll be rolling out merchandise—think books, prints, tees, maybe even some surf-inspired gear—all tied to Hawaii’s surfing legacy. The proceeds? They’ll fuel our mission: supporting the Hawaiian community and the global surf tribe. Whether it’s helping local keiki learn to surf, preserving surf spots, or backing ocean conservation, we’re committed to giving back. Surfing’s given us so much; this is our way of keeping the aloha flowing.
What to Expect on 4/20
Launch day is just the beginning. On April 20th, hawaii.surf goes live with a fresh look—starting with our homepage, where we’ll tease the epic history we’re unpacking. No merch yet (we’re working on it!), but plenty of stoke. Expect blog posts like this one, diving into everything from ancient olo boards to the moments that put Hawaii on the surfing map. Down the line, we’ll add more—community spotlights, history deep-dives, and that merch store to help fund the cause.
Join the Ride
We’re not doing this alone—you’re part of it too. Whether you’re a surfer, a history buff, or just someone who loves Hawaii, there’s a place for you here. Follow along as we launch, share your own surf stories, and stick around for what’s next. Together, we’ll keep the spirit of heʻe nalu alive—honoring the past, supporting the present, and riding toward the future.
Mahalo for joining us. See you on April 20th at hawaii.surf—let’s make waves together!
